Minority students can now apply online for scholarships

Online applications has been sought from eligible students for Pre-Matric, Post-Matric and Merit-cum-Means Based Scholarships for Youth belonging to Minorities of Punjab. The eligible candidates can apply online for scholarships till October 31.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities said that the youth belonging to the Sikh, Muslim, Buddhist, Parsi Jain and Christian communities of the state could avail the benefits of these schemes for the year 2020-2021.

He said that new applicants and the candidates for renewal of scholarships under these 100% Centrally Sponsored Schemes could apply till October 31.

studentsThe applicant applying under these schemes should belong to a minority community (Sikh, Muslim, Buddhist, Parsi Jain and Christian).

Only students who are studying in a government or recognized private university / institution, colleges/schools can apply for the scholarship. Only students, who have secured at least 50 per cent marks in the previous examination, will be eligible for the scholarship under scheme, he added.

The eligible students can apply online at www.scholarships.gov.in or www.minorityaffairs.gov.in website links or through National Scholarship App on mobile till October 31.

The spokesperson clarified that the details of the same bank account should be entered on the student portal which is in working condition so that there would be no hindrance in the payment of scholarship.

The spokesperson further said that those universities / institutions, colleges / schools where minority students are studying should register themselves on the National Portal and fill up the complete form with the District Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Officer / District Education Officer.
