IF THIS PICTURE, and so many similar ones being published every day, are not making you angry, sad, anxious or melancholic every day, if images such as this one are not tearing you apart, then you need someone to cry for you, to sit next to you, to make you feel human, a little more humane. It could be… you know who.
There’s a way to escape, one that also carries some cred among many progressives in Punjab – “Corona is a conspiracy. Samraji shaktiyan di chaal hai. If corona is so dangerous, why are they holding rallies? There is no corona at Singhu Tikri.”
There’s another way – Concede the reality of pandemic, raise your voice for equitable treatment, pressurise the government to make arrangements for better healthcare for all, ask why the private sector hospital resources can’t be commandeered even in the face of such a crisis.
Demand financial social security for the poor, for industrial and agriculture workers. Question why do parents have to fight the school managements over fee hikes. Choose.
